Samuel Chukwueze, winger for Italian football giants AC Milan, has expressed that while he desires more playing time, the team’s overall success remains his top priority.
In an interview with DAZN, Chukwueze, who has been a regular feature for Milan this season, reiterated that the ambition and unity of the team are far more important than his personal aspirations. “The priority is the group and the solidity of our team. Of course, I would like to play more, but the team comes first,” he said.
Chukwueze, 25, has featured in 32 matches across all competitions for Milan this season, contributing five goals and one assist. However, his struggle to secure a permanent spot in the starting lineup continues, with the Nigerian international making just eight Serie A starts so far. In their recent 2-2 draw against Fiorentina, many Italian media outlets predicted that Chukwueze would finally get a starting role after impressive performances off the bench, but he was again relegated to the substitutes’ bench.
The winger, who has made 23 league appearances and scored three of his goals in Serie A, acknowledged his disappointment in not starting but emphasized the importance of remaining focused on the team’s collective goals. “We know the importance of the game and the path we are taking in the coming weeks. We must remain plugged in,” Chukwueze added.
Despite the challenges of not starting regularly, the Nigerian remains committed to his role within the squad and is fully focused on contributing to Milan’s success as they look to finish the season strongly.
