Lagos | September 13, 2025 — The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a leadership change at the Lagos Industrial Area Command as Comptroller Adebola Salawu officially assumed office, succeeding Comptroller Sarah Wadinda, who retired after years of meritorious service.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Comptroller Salawu pledged to consolidate the gains of his predecessor while driving growth in excise duty collections, which remain a critical revenue source for the Federal Government. He assured stakeholders of improved collaboration, transparency, and efficiency in the operations of the command.
Salawu emphasized that his administration will focus on expanding excise revenue by ensuring full compliance from industries under the command’s jurisdiction, tackling leakages, and enhancing staff productivity. He also noted that the Lagos Industrial Command would work closely with manufacturers to create a more enabling environment that balances revenue generation with industrial growth.
In her farewell remarks, the outgoing Comptroller Wadinda expressed gratitude to the NCS leadership and her team for their support, urging them to extend the same cooperation to her successor. She described Salawu as a competent officer capable of building on the achievements already recorded.
The Lagos Industrial Area Command is one of the most strategic excise revenue hubs of the NCS, overseeing compliance and collections from key manufacturing industries operating in Lagos State.
