Crescent University Nursing Students Make History with Triple Certification –

In a groundbreaking achievement, nursing students of Crescent University, Abeokuta, have successfully earned three professional certifications – Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwife (RM), and Public Health Nursing (PHN) – within their five-year Bachelor of Nursing program. This remarkable feat was announced by the Head of Department of Nursing, Ademola Shafiu, while presenting the students to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, and his management team.

The students, who are in the 400 and 500 levels, also recorded a 100% pass rate in the 2025 Registered Midwife (RM) examination. The Vice Chancellor praised the students and faculty members for their outstanding performance, noting that the first set of nurses to graduate in October 2025 will have the distinction of having all four certifications – RN, RM, PHN, and BNSc – alongside their names.

Prof. Adedeji Ajayi, Pioneer Dean of the College of Health Sciences, described the achievement as unprecedented, saying, “I have not heard of any nursing school or university that has achieved this feat within five years of BNSc with three professional certificates.” He urged the university management to sustain the current team of scholars and professionals in the department, describing them as a “winning team.”

The Registrar, Zakariya Ajibola, also commended the students, saying they are “an inspiration to other students and the next generation of students.” The achievement is a testament to the university’s commitment to academic excellence and its reputation as a leading institution in Nigeria.

It’s worth noting that nursing certifications are a crucial aspect of a nurse’s career, demonstrating expertise and commitment to evidence-based practice ². Crescent University’s achievement is a significant milestone in the nursing profession, and it’s likely to inspire other institutions to strive for similar excellence.
