The Aliko Dangote Foundation has donated 30,000 bags of 50kg rice to support vulnerable residents in Niger State, as part of its ongoing efforts to alleviate hunger and poverty in Nigeria.

Speaking during the distribution event in Minna on Saturday, Ahmed Hashim, Group Managing Director of Dangote Group, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to complementing government initiatives aimed at reducing food insecurity.
“We are committed to supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to reduce poverty and hunger in Nigeria,” Hashim stated. “Our donation of rice to Niger State is a demonstration of our commitment to support what the state government is already doing.”
He emphasized that the intervention targets the most vulnerable members of society, including widows, orphans, and persons with disabilities.

Expressing gratitude for the donation, Niger State Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba, noted that such support plays a crucial role in addressing food scarcity.
“Poverty and hunger are multi-dimensional problems that require collective efforts to tackle,” Garba said. He highlighted the state’s initiative, Niger Foods, which has turned the region into a net exporter of grains.
He also revealed that the state government had distributed 400 trucks of grains across its 25 local government areas at a subsidized rate during Ramadan and called on other philanthropists to follow Dangote’s example in supporting the less privileged.
