Lagos, July 27, 2025
The Dangote Refinery has received a fleet of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks at its Lagos facility in preparation for the commencement of fuel distribution operations slated for August 15.
The delivery marks a critical phase in the refinery’s nationwide fuel supply rollout plan, aimed at transforming petroleum product logistics across Nigeria. The trucks, which run on cleaner-burning CNG, are part of the company’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and reducing carbon emissions within its supply chain.
Officials at the refinery confirmed that the vehicles will be deployed across major Nigerian cities to ensure efficient and widespread distribution of refined petroleum products, including Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (diesel), and Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK), once the refinery begins full-scale commercial operations.
The refinery, Africa’s largest single-train facility with a 650,000 barrels-per-day capacity, is expected to ease Nigeria’s dependency on fuel imports and stabilize the domestic market. The fuel rollout on August 15 is anticipated to signal a new era in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector, with improved availability and potential price moderation.
