Dasuki’s Firearms Trial Suffers Fresh Adjournment After a Decade

Abuja, Nigeria | September 24, 2025

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday adjourned the ongoing trial of former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), over alleged unlawful possession of firearms and money laundering.

Presiding judge, Justice Peter Lifu, noted that the prosecution was yet to conclude its case after a decade of proceedings, having failed to present all witnesses and tender outstanding exhibits as scheduled.

The court had earlier fixed September 24 to 26, 2025 for the prosecution to close its case.

Dasuki, who was first arraigned in 2015, faces a seven-count amended charge filed by the Federal Government.

With the case yet to progress to the defence stage, the judge granted further short dates for continuation of trial and directed the prosecution to ensure readiness at the next sitting.

The matter was subsequently adjourned for continuation of hearing.
