In a decisive move against counterfeit pharmaceuticals, the Delta State Government, in partnership with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has uncovered an illegal drug manufacturing facility engaged in the repackaging of expired and banned ingestible products.
The illicit operation was discovered during a joint surveillance and enforcement exercise. Several suspects were arrested at the scene and are currently in custody as legal proceedings commence.
Authorities revealed that the facility was producing and circulating potentially lethal drugs under false labels, posing severe health risks to unsuspecting consumers.
The Delta State Government has urged residents to be vigilant and only purchase medications from registered pharmacies and accredited outlets. “Fake and expired drugs can cause irreversible harm, including death,” the government warned in a public advisory.
This operation forms part of a broader crackdown on substandard medical products across the state and reaffirms the government’s commitment to safeguarding public health.
