Drama in ADC as Dumebi Kachikwu Slams Alleged Atiku Group Plot to Hijack Party

Former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Dumebi Kachikwu, has raised the alarm over what he described as a sneaky attempt by a group loyal to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to seize control of the ADC through the back door.

In a fiery statement released on Tuesday, Kachikwu accused the group of working with the old leadership of the party, headed by Ralph Nwosu, whose tenure officially ended on August 21, 2022.

According to Kachikwu, the move is nothing short of a desperate grab for power. He claimed the plotters are trying to revive a leadership structure that no longer exists, all in a bid to install themselves at the helm of the ADC without following due process.

“The same expired leadership they are aligning with no longer has the legal right to represent the party,” Kachikwu stated. “This is a clear case of political hijacking disguised as a coalition-building effort.”

The former ADC flag bearer described the move as dangerous and warned that it could plunge the party into chaos if not stopped immediately. He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission and other relevant authorities to intervene and protect the sanctity of internal party democracy.

Kachikwu’s outburst comes amid speculations of a growing alliance between opposition figures ahead of the 2027 elections, with talks of a mega coalition already making the rounds.

For now, the ADC appears to be heading into stormy waters again as power struggles and alleged backroom deals threaten to tear the party apart.
