DSS Arrests Another Bandit Allegedly Travelling for Hajj

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have apprehended another suspected bandit who was reportedly attempting to travel to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.

Security sources confirmed on Tuesday that the suspect was arrested at a major airport in northern Nigeria while undergoing immigration clearance. Preliminary investigations revealed that the individual is linked to violent criminal activities in the North West region and had been placed on a watchlist.

The arrest follows a series of similar operations by security agencies aimed at intercepting individuals fleeing justice under the guise of religious travel.

An official who spoke on condition of anonymity noted that the suspect will be transferred to the appropriate authorities for further interrogation and possible prosecution.

While the DSS has yet to issue a formal statement, the development has stirred public concern over the potential misuse of international travel channels by fugitives.

Authorities have assured that security checks at major transit points have been intensified to prevent wanted individuals from escaping the country.

The 2025 Hajj pilgrimage is set to begin in mid-June, with thousands of Nigerian pilgrims expected to participate under the supervision of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
