Dubai to Offer Worshipers Free One-Hour Parking at 59 Mosques During Prayer Times

In a significant move aimed at easing traffic congestion and encouraging timely religious observance, Dubai authorities have announced the rollout of 2,100 free parking slots at 59 mosques across the emirate. Starting from August 2025, Muslim faithful attending daily prayers will be entitled to one hour of complimentary parking during each of the five prescribed Islamic prayer times.

This initiative, driven by a collaboration between the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department and Parkin, Dubai’s official parking operator, underscores a renewed commitment to community welfare and religious accessibility. Worshipers attending Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (midday), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (night) prayers will be able to park their vehicles without charge at participating mosques for up to 60 minutes.

According to details obtained, Parkin will handle the management of these designated bays, deploying digital tools to enhance convenience and ensure fair usage. A smart navigation system built into the Parkin mobile application will help drivers locate available spaces in real time, while on-ground enforcement personnel will oversee compliance. Vehicles found exceeding the one-hour grace period will be charged standard parking rates, in accordance with Dubai’s existing regulations.

Officials say this effort is especially timely, given the high vehicular density often witnessed during congregational prayers, particularly on Fridays. By easing the burden of parking fees and availability, the project is designed to reduce last-minute delays and support more seamless access to places of worship.

“This initiative reflects our dedication to supporting the religious needs of the people while promoting values of social harmony and spiritual mindfulness,” said a spokesperson from the Department of Islamic Affairs. “It is not just about convenience—it is about removing obstacles that stand between individuals and their right to worship.”

Parkin also confirmed that this is only the initial phase of the program. Future expansion is on the table, contingent upon public feedback and evolving demand across other densely populated areas.

Dubai, known for its innovative urban planning and sensitivity to cultural and religious diversity, continues to lead the way in integrating technology with public service. The August 2025 launch is expected to bring welcome relief to worshipers, making daily prayer not only more accessible but also more fulfilling without the added stress of parking constraints.
