The leading Socio-religious Islamic Organisation, Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih (NASFAT), has joined the growing calls for justice over the recent massacre of travellers in Uromi, Edo State by local mobsters.
In a statement by the National Public Relations Secretary of the organisation, Alhaji Shamsideen Owolabi Oseni, the Chief Missioner of NASFAT, Imam Maroofdeen AbdulAzeez Onike,.expressed deep shock, amd outrage at the senseless killings.
While consolimg with the Kano State Government and the entire residents of the state over the loss, he prayed Allah replenish the huge loss for them in multiple.folds.
According to him, the unprovoked attack and gruesome killing of the vigilantes has no doubt left the nation in shock.
While pleading against reprisal attack, the pace setting global Islamic society, however wanted the constituted authority to act fast by fetching out and bringing the perpetrators of the crime to justice without further delay.
He emphasized that silence in the face of injustice is tantamount to complicity, urging all Nigerians to speak out against violence and discrimination anywhere and everywhere.
Imam Onike also bemoaned thee lack of vocal condemnation from both public commentators and religious leaders, especially those from other faiths, saying the ‘deafening silence” was not timely for national security and peace.
“Had the victims been from different religious backgrounds, the media would have been flooded with reactions.
“This silence only deepens the injustice, as it allows such tragic events to be swept under the rug,” he lamented.
Imam Onike also referenced a powerful verse from the Quran (Q5:32), reminding the society that killing an innocent soul is akin to killing all of mankind. He urged Nigerians to value every life and to work toward building a society that upholds peace, justice, and unity.
Despite the pain and grief, Imam Onike called on the northern brothers to resist reprisal attacks, encouraging them to accept the killings as a trial from Allah. Forgiveness and patience, he stressed, would bring Allah’s support and guidance.
NASFAT’s President, Alhaji Ayodeji AbdulWahid AbdulRauf, on his part, reiterated the importance of being one’s brother’s keeper, regardless of religion or tribe.
He “called for unity and compassion in the face of such tragic events, reminding the people of Nigeria that it is their collective responsibility to support each other through difficult times.”
“NASFAT is categorically demanding that the security forces intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act and bring them to justice,” he added
