Edo State Government Cancels April Environmental Sanitation Exercise

The Edo State Government has officially announced the cancellation of the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise previously scheduled to hold across the state on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

This update follows an earlier public notice that had informed residents of the reintroduction of the sanitation initiative, aimed at promoting public hygiene and environmental sustainability. However, in a fresh statement issued by the relevant authorities, the government disclosed that the exercise will no longer hold as planned.

No official reason was immediately given for the abrupt cancellation, but the government urged residents to remain law-abiding and continue to observe good environmental practices within their homes, business premises, and public spaces.

Residents who had made preparations for the sanitation activity expressed mixed reactions to the sudden change, with some calling for more consistent communication from the government to avoid confusion.

While this cancellation affects only the April edition of the exercise, it is yet unclear whether the program will resume in subsequent months or if a new strategy will be introduced to manage environmental sanitation across Edo’s urban and rural communities.

Citizens are encouraged to stay tuned to official government channels for further updates regarding future sanitation schedules and other public health directives.
