Edo State Government Intensifies Efforts to Achieve ‘Education for All’ Vision, Inspects School Infrastructure Projects in Esan Land

In a bid to accelerate the realization of the Edo State Government’s vision of “Education for All,” Barr. (Mrs.) Onomen Briggs, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), led an extensive inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects in four primary schools across Esan land.

The inspection, which took place earlier this week, was aimed at assessing the progress of various construction works designed to enhance the learning environment for primary school children in the region. Barr. Briggs, accompanied by key officials from the state education sector, visited the schools to ensure that the ongoing renovations and expansions meet the required standards and are on schedule for completion.

During the inspection, the SUBEB Chairman emphasized the state government’s commitment to improving the quality of education at the grassroots level by providing modern facilities for both teachers and students. “Our goal is to leave no child behind, and for that, we must ensure that our primary schools are equipped with the right infrastructure that will foster a conducive learning environment,” Briggs stated.

The four schools being inspected are part of a series of infrastructure upgrade projects that the Edo State Government is implementing across various local government areas, particularly in Esan land. The projects, which include the construction of new classrooms, the renovation of dilapidated structures, and the installation of modern facilities such as furniture and toilets, are designed to raise the standard of education and ensure that every child has access to quality learning spaces.

Barr. Briggs also took time to engage with local education officials and teachers, gathering feedback on the current needs and challenges faced in the area. She assured them that the government is committed to addressing the gaps in infrastructure and teaching materials while continuing to empower teachers with the tools they need for effective teaching.

The inspection of these schools highlights the Edo State Government’s determination to fulfill its promise of making education accessible to all children, particularly those in rural and underserved areas. The initiative is also in line with the state’s broader education reform agenda, which seeks to tackle the root causes of educational disparities and drive a more inclusive and equitable education system.

With the completion of these infrastructure projects, the government hopes to provide a solid foundation for the future of primary education in Edo State and inspire other states to follow suit in addressing the infrastructural challenges facing schools across Nigeria.
