Education District II Officials Monitor Exams, Probe Alleged Land Encroachment

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS) of Education District II, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, has led a team of top officials on a comprehensive monitoring exercise to ensure the smooth conduct of ongoing examinations in public secondary schools under the district, while also inspecting a case of alleged land encroachment affecting one of the institutions.

The exercise, carried out covered several schools within the district, where Mrs. Adekanye interacted with principals, teachers, and students to assess the integrity and conduct of the examinations. She expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness and the strict adherence to examination guidelines by school authorities.

Speaking at the end of the visit, Mrs. Adekanye emphasized the importance of credible assessments in shaping the academic future of students and reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s zero-tolerance stance against examination malpractice.

During the tour, the TG/PS also visited a school facing suspected land encroachment issues. On-site inspection revealed that portions of the school’s premises had been allegedly taken over by unauthorized persons for non-educational use.

Mrs. Adekanye condemned the act and assured that the government would take immediate steps to investigate the matter and recover all encroached properties. She stressed that public school lands are state assets meant for the educational development of children and must be protected at all costs.

She called on community leaders, school managements, and parents to collaborate with the state government in safeguarding school environments and ensuring a secure, conducive atmosphere for learning.

The monitoring tour further reinforced the commitment of the Lagos State Ministry of Education to academic excellence, accountability, and infrastructural protection in public schools.
