EFCC Arraigns Suspect For Alleged ₦31 Million Land Fraud in Kano

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday arraigned a suspect before the Federal High Court in Kano for allegedly defrauding a victim of ₦31 million through a fake land transaction.

The accused reportedly posed as a credible land agent and convinced the complainant to invest in a property deal within Kano metropolis. The victim paid ₦31 million for the purported land, but later discovered that the sale documents were forged and the land did not exist.

The suspect was charged with obtaining money under false pretenses, contrary to the provisions of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act.

Upon arraignment, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court subsequently remanded the suspect in custody pending the commencement of trial.

The EFCC continues to intensify efforts to curb fraudulent activities in the real estate sector and safeguard the interests of Nigerian citizens.
