The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of 74 suspected internet fraudsters in a major operation conducted in Nyanya, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
According to a statement released by the Commission, the suspects were apprehended in the early hours of Monday, June 30, 2025, at Joyous Hotel following credible intelligence linking them to internet-related crimes.
During the coordinated raid, operatives of the EFCC recovered 86 mobile phones, three motorcycles, and a rifle pistol believed to have been unlawfully possessed.
The anti-graft agency disclosed that the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation. Upon conclusion of the investigative process, they will be formally charged to court in accordance with existing cybercrime laws.
The EFCC reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying the fight against cybercrime and warned individuals and groups involved in fraudulent online activities to desist or face the full weight of the law.
