Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, expressed his belief that Nigerians possess the ability to overcome corruption through unity and shared commitment.
His remarks were made in a goodwill message to Muslims across the nation celebrating Eid-el-Fitr, delivered in Abuja on Sunday.
“Tackling economic and financial crimes, as well as other forms of corruption, is within our reach, provided there is courageous determination and collective will among Nigerians,” Olukoyede stated.
He reaffirmed the nation’s strength in the fight against corruption, asserting, “Nigerians are stronger than corruption. No act of deceit can diminish our shared resolve and determination. We have everything we need to confront and overcome economic and financial crimes.”
In his message, he encouraged Muslims to embody the teachings of Ramadan—self-denial, discipline, sacrifice, love, and purity—and to apply these principles towards a renewed commitment to rejecting corrupt practices.
“I congratulate all Muslims and urge you to let the lessons learned during Ramadan inspire a stronger resolve to combat corruption,” he said. “During Eid-el-Fitr, we celebrate Allah’s mercy and sacrifice. May the values of love, peace, joy, and the spirit of the festival strengthen our collective desire to reject corruption.”
