Abeokuta, Ogun State – August 10, 2025
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the early hours of Sunday stormed the Green Legacy Hotel, located within the premises of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, arresting several youths suspected of engaging in internet fraud.
According to eyewitness accounts, the raid occurred during a pool party at the hotel, triggering panic among guests as EFCC operatives moved in. Reports indicate that more than 20 luxury vehicles were impounded during the operation, though the agency has yet to issue an official statement confirming these details.
The action comes just five days after the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate arrested 55 suspected internet fraudsters at K-Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, including a suspect allegedly found with two locally-made pistols.
OOPL Ventures Managing Director, Vitalis Ortese, confirmed the incident but declined to provide specifics, promising further information later. EFCC Lagos Zonal spokesperson, Ayo Oyewole, said he was unaware of the operation but would investigate.
The number of arrests, identities of the suspects, and formal charges are yet to be disclosed at press time.
