EFCC Secures Final Forfeiture of Galaxy Hospital, Petrol Stations, and N333 Million to FG

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has obtained a final forfeiture order on Galaxy Hospital, five petrol stations, multiple landed properties, and bank accounts containing over ₦333 million, in a landmark ruling granted by the Federal High Court.

The order, issued in favour of the Federal Government, follows a successful legal process led by the anti-graft agency to recover assets suspected to be linked to fraudulent activities and money laundering.

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Lagos granted the final forfeiture after the EFCC presented convincing evidence that the properties and funds were proceeds of unlawful activities. The Commission had earlier secured an interim forfeiture order pending investigations and conclusion of the case.

Among the forfeited assets are Galaxy Hospital, five petrol stations spread across strategic locations, several plots of land, and multiple bank accounts with a total balance exceeding ₦333 million.

The EFCC, in its application, stated that the assets were traced to a syndicate allegedly involved in massive fraud, diversion of public funds, and other financial crimes. The suspects linked to the assets were reported to have failed to justify the lawful source of their wealth.

Reacting to the judgment, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale described it as another victory in the agency’s relentless pursuit of accountability and the recovery of stolen public funds. He noted that the Commission remains committed to ensuring that proceeds of corruption are returned to the Nigerian people.

The ruling underscores the judiciary’s support for the Federal Government’s anti-corruption fight and sets a precedent for future forfeiture cases involving suspicious wealth and properties.
