Egyptian Pharmacist Sets Record, Recites Entire Qur’an in Seven Hours Without a Single Mistake

An Egyptian pharmacist has stunned religious and academic communities after flawlessly reciting the entire Holy Qur’an in just seven hours—without a single error. The extraordinary feat, carried out by Mohammad Abdul Rahman, has drawn wide admiration and sparked renewed interest in the traditions of Qur’anic memorisation and recitation.

Abdul Rahman, who is based in the Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate in northern Egypt, is a trained pharmacist and a seasoned Qur’an reciter. According to reports from local media and religious forums, the recital was performed publicly and verified by Islamic scholars who confirmed the precision and accuracy of his rendition.

Born into a family of Qur’an memorizers—known in Arabic as huffaz—Abdul Rahman began memorising the Qur’an at a young age, completing it by the time he was nine. He credits his achievement to years of disciplined practice, repetition, and deep engagement with Tajweed, the rules that govern proper Qur’anic pronunciation and articulation.

The recitation, which lasted exactly seven hours, was streamed live to a sizable audience and closely monitored for any lapses. Viewers and clerics alike confirmed that the session was delivered without a single error or hesitation. His performance is already being hailed as one of the most remarkable Qur’anic recitations in recent years.

In an interview following the event, Abdul Rahman said he was inspired by prominent Egyptian Qur’an reciters such as the late Sheikh Abolainain Shoaisha. He described the session not only as a personal milestone but also as an act of spiritual devotion and a tribute to Egypt’s rich heritage of Islamic scholarship.

Egypt, a country of over 100 million people with approximately 90% of its population practicing Islam, holds a central place in the Islamic world for its scholarly contributions to Qur’anic studies. The country has produced globally respected reciters such as Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdus Samad, Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hussary, and Sheikh Minshawi. Abdul Rahman’s feat now places him among a long line of respected figures in the discipline.

The news has since gone viral across the Muslim world, with many religious leaders and institutions praising the pharmacist’s precision and dedication. Islamic scholars have also pointed to the feat as a demonstration of the spiritual and intellectual discipline required to master the Qur’an.

While some have called for Abdul Rahman to be honoured at both national and international levels, others say his achievement should be used as a case study in Islamic institutions to encourage younger generations to pursue Qur’anic studies with renewed passion.
