As Muslims across Nigeria and the world prepare to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, the Oyo State Police Command has assured residents of the state of adequate security throughout the festive period.
In a statement released on Saturday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, the Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Adenola, reaffirmed that strategic security measures have been put in place to ensure a peaceful and safe celebration.
According to the statement, security operatives have been deployed across critical areas, including places of worship, recreational centers, correctional facilities, and major entry and exit points within the state. The command has also intensified intelligence-led patrols, stop-and-search operations, surveillance, and targeted raids to curb criminal activities during and after the festive period.
The statement further noted that the Federal Government has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays for the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations. In light of this, CP Adenola extended warm greetings to the Muslim community in Oyo State, urging them to celebrate responsibly and remain security-conscious.
Additionally, the Commissioner has instructed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Team Leaders to maintain strict supervision of security personnel to ensure professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The Command also emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining security and urged residents to report any suspicious activities. Citizens can reach the Oyo State Police through the emergency response number 615 or the Police Control Room hotlines: 08081768614, 09054133071, and 09061299291.
“As we celebrate this significant occasion, let us remain vigilant. If you see something, say something. Together, we can ensure a safe and secure environment for all,” the statement concluded.
The Oyo State Police Command congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan and wished all residents a joyous and peaceful Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.
