Elon Musk Blasts Trump’s Spending Bill, Calls It a ‘Disgusting Abomination’

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has launched a scathing attack on President Donald Trump’s recently proposed tax and spending legislation, branding it a “disgusting abomination” and criticizing its impact on federal finances.

The bill, dubbed the “One Big Beautiful Bill” by Trump and his allies, seeks to extend the 2017 tax cuts while increasing spending on defense and border security. However, it also includes significant cuts to key social programs, including Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Taking to his social media platform, X, Musk wrote:

“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong.”

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that the legislation could add approximately $3.8 trillion to the national debt over the next decade, a projection that has triggered strong reactions from fiscal conservatives and economic analysts alike.

Musk’s public criticism follows his resignation from his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a position he held during Trump’s second term. His departure was reportedly driven by mounting frustrations over what he described as “unsustainable fiscal policies.”

The White House, responding to Musk’s remarks, defended the bill as essential to maintaining economic growth and national security, asserting that the benefits outweigh the projected deficits.

However, dissent is growing within Republican ranks. Senators Rand Paul and Mike Lee have voiced similar concerns, warning that the bill undermines conservative fiscal principles and risks deepening the country’s debt crisis.

Musk’s comments have reignited debates over federal spending and the role of private sector voices in shaping public policy. As one of the most influential entrepreneurs in the world, his sharp rebuke of Trump’s economic strategy adds a new layer of controversy to the already divisive legislation.

The bill is currently under review in the Senate, where it is expected to face intense scrutiny.
