The Lagos State Government has announced that enforcement of the electronic call-up (e-call up) system for trucks operating along the Lekki-Epe corridor will officially begin on June 16, 2025, as part of measures to curb persistent gridlock and enhance traffic management in the axis.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, made this known in a statement issued on Friday, stressing that only trucks that have been duly scheduled through the e-call up platform will be granted access to the corridor from the commencement date.
He stated that the policy, introduced in collaboration with the Lagos State Ports and Logistics Company and other stakeholders, is aimed at restoring sanity to the ever-busy Lekki-Epe Expressway, which hosts several industrial and port activities.
“From June 16, enforcement teams will be on the ground to ensure full compliance with the e-call up directive. Any truck found on the corridor without a valid e-schedule will be turned back or impounded,” Osiyemi warned.
The Commissioner noted that truck operators and relevant stakeholders have been duly engaged and given adequate time to register and familiarize themselves with the system. He added that the e-call up system will improve traffic flow, reduce travel time, and mitigate environmental and infrastructural damage caused by indiscriminate parking.
The Lagos State Government urged all truck operators, port users, and logistics firms to comply with the directive and cooperate with traffic enforcement agencies to ensure the successful implementation of the initiative.
