Engineer Rahma, a dedicated staff member of Mashariq Dhahabiyya, one of the key service providers assisting Nigerian pilgrims during the 2025 Hajj operations in Madina, has opened up about her experiences working in the critical passport management section of the company.
In an interaction with journalists, Rahma expressed both the joy and the challenges that come with her role, particularly in ensuring the safe handling and proper documentation of pilgrims’ passports — a task she described as “highly sensitive and time-bound.”
According to her, working in the passports section requires great attention to detail, as the documents represent not only the identities of the pilgrims but also their access to services and movement during the sacred pilgrimage. She explained that every passport must be carefully processed and returned at the right time to avoid disruptions in the pilgrims’ schedules or violations of Saudi regulations.
Rahma, who has been with Mashariq Dhahabiyya for several years, also highlighted the emotional reward of serving pilgrims, especially those embarking on Hajj for the first time. “It is fulfilling to be part of a spiritual journey that means so much to millions of people,” she said. “Despite the pressure and long hours, knowing that I am contributing to such a sacred cause gives me immense satisfaction.”
She also commended the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for maintaining close collaboration with service providers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting that improved coordination has eased many operational challenges in recent years.
As thousands of Nigerian pilgrims continue their spiritual activities in Madina ahead of their movement to Makkah, support staff like Engineer Rahma remain central to the success and smooth running of the entire Hajj experience.
