Epe LG Chairman Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Healthcare Delivery

EPE, LAGOS — The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government Area, Princess Surah Animashaun, has reaffirmed her administration’s dedication to ensuring quality and accessible healthcare services for residents, as part of ongoing efforts to improve public health outcomes within the council area.

Speaking during a recent two-day free health screening initiative held at the Epe Local Government Secretariat, Animashaun noted that the exercise aligns with her administration’s broader healthcare agenda. The screening, which was themed “End TB, Stop TB”, offered residents free testing for tuberculosis, blood sugar, blood pressure, and chest X-rays.

“Our administration is committed to delivering efficient healthcare to our people,” she said. “We recognise the threat tuberculosis and other chronic illnesses pose to the health of our communities. That is why we’re bringing proactive screening and medical support directly to the people.”

Residents turned out in large numbers for the medical outreach and expressed appreciation for the intervention. Beneficiaries described the initiative as timely, citing the rising cost of medical care. One participant, Mrs. Modupe Lawal, thanked the council for creating access to early diagnosis, stating that many residents could not afford regular medical check-ups on their own.

As part of efforts to support healthcare professionals, Princess Animashaun also unveiled a newly constructed 10-unit Doctors’ Lodge located on Olatunji Ojikutu Street in the Papa Epe area. The lodge is designed to provide safe, comfortable, and affordable accommodation for doctors serving in the local government.

The council boss noted that prioritising the welfare of healthcare workers is essential for improved service delivery. “Medical professionals are at the heart of our healthcare system, and providing them with decent housing is a way to support and motivate them to serve better,” she said.

She also lauded the recent upgrade of the Epe General Hospital to the status of a Federal Medical Centre, describing it as a significant milestone for healthcare advancement in the area. She praised the collaborative efforts between Lagos State and the Federal Government, expressing optimism that the upgrade would bring more specialist services, attract medical talent, and create employment opportunities for locals.

Animashaun reiterated her administration’s unwavering resolve to continue investing in health-related infrastructure and welfare schemes to ensure that no resident is left behind in accessing critical healthcare services.
