Ex-NHIS Boss Femi Thomas to Know Judgment on $2.2 Million Fraud Case July 24

Former National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Executive Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Martins Thomas, is scheduled to hear the verdict in his alleged $2,198,900 fraud case on July 24, 2025. The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, set the date following the conclusion of trial proceedings.

Dr. Thomas and co-defendant Kabiru Sidi, a Bureau De Change operator, face charges of conspiracy to launder the sum of $2.2 million. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) accused the defendants of facilitating an illicit cash payment at Thomas’s Lagos residence.

Evidence presented by the EFCC reveals alleged tax evasion by Thomas’s company, Safe-line Agro Business Limited. Witness testimony highlighted discrepancies involving multiple Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs) and failure to maintain proper tax documentation.

The judgment will determine the legal outcome for Dr. Thomas and his co-accused, as the case continues to draw public attention due to the scale of the alleged fraud and the involvement of a former government official.
