In a strong show of support, the National Farmers Coalition has commended President Bola Tinubu and the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) for the disbursement of N19.5 billion to 50,000 farmers under the AgGrow Farm Support Programme.
The Coalition, in a statement issued on Monday, described the intervention as timely, strategic, and crucial in addressing food security and promoting sustainable agriculture in Nigeria.
The group’s spokesperson, Alhaji Sani Umar, noted that the transparent rollout of the digital Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) platform by the NADF would enhance accountability, track impact, and ensure that real farmers are the actual beneficiaries.
“This initiative is a landmark in the drive to modernise agriculture in Nigeria. It shows that the current administration is listening and responding to the real needs of Nigerian farmers,” Umar stated.
He added that the funds would help smallholder farmers improve productivity, access quality inputs, and scale operations, thereby contributing meaningfully to national food sufficiency.
The AgGrow Programme, backed by the Federal Government, aims to create jobs, boost rural economies, and reduce post-harvest losses by supporting local farmers with grants, training, and technological tools.
The Farmers Coalition called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support and urged the government to sustain such interventions to consolidate agricultural growth across the country.
