Fayemi Denies Dumping APC, Reaffirms Commitment to Party.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has refuted information circulating online, suggesting that he has left the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a post on his X handle on Monday, Fayemi reiterated his unwavering commitment to the ruling party, emphasizing that he remains a card-carrying foundation member.

Fayemi addressed the rumors, stating that, “Nothing Has Changed” so far.

According to him, “My attention has been drawn to a story circulating on several online platforms regarding my defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“As I have had cause to state in the past, I am a card-carrying foundation member of the APC and this position has not changed.

“While I have been at the vanguard of demand for greater internal democracy and inclusion in the ruling party, I believe it is still not late for our party to change course and move towards greater inclusion and internal democracy.”

Fayemi’s clarification comes on the same day that Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, announced his defection from the APC to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

In a statement issued on Monday, El-Rufai expressed his disappointment with the APC’s leadership style, accusing the party’s leadership of deviating from the progressive ideals of its founding members.

Unlike El-Rufai however, Fayemi, however said he remains optimistic about the future of the APC.

He acknowledged the need for better internal democracy and inclusion within the party and expressed his belief that there is still time for the APC to realign with its core values and principles.

He stated:. “While I have been at the forefront of advocating for greater internal democracy and inclusion within the APC, I firmly believe that it is not too late for our party to change course. We must move towards greater inclusion and internal democracy to ensure that we remain true to the progressive ideals upon which our party was founded.”

Fayemi’s reaffirmation of his commitment to the APC serves as a reminder of his dedication to the party’s principles and his belief in its potential for positive change.
