Federal Fire Service Warns Job Seekers Against Fake Recruitment Schemes

The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has warned job seekers across the country to be cautious and avoid falling prey to fraudulent recruitment schemes orchestrated by criminal elements posing as officials of the Service.

In a statement issued on Monday, Controller General of the FFS, Engr. Abdulganiyu O. Jaji, raised the alarm over the circulation of fake appointment letters and unauthorized recruitment advertisements targeting desperate job seekers. He made it clear that the Service is not conducting any recruitment exercise at the moment and has not engaged any individual or group to act on its behalf.

The warning follows recent incidents where individuals were found to have illegally inserted their names into the Federal Government’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) without having any genuine appointment or invitation letters. Investigations revealed that these individuals obtained fake documents through fraudulent means. Engr. Jaji stressed that anyone caught engaging in such acts would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The FFS reiterated that it maintains strict procedures for employment, which are announced publicly through official government platforms and not through private channels or third parties. The Controller General urged job seekers to disregard any unofficial messages or demands for payment in exchange for job offers, describing such requests as scams.

Similarly, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) also issued a statement debunking recent online reports claiming that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and Federal Fire Service were recruiting. The Board clarified that no such recruitment process was underway and cautioned the public to rely solely on verified information from official sources.

The FFS sympathized with individuals who may have already fallen victim to the fraudsters and assured that efforts are being intensified to track down and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Members of the public have been urged to report any suspicious activities or fraudulent recruitment offers to the nearest FFS office or law enforcement agencies, as part of ongoing efforts to protect innocent citizens from exploitation.
