Federal Government Commends Progress on Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Road, Section I, Phase 1

The Federal Government has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction work on the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Road, specifically Section I, Phase 1. This section, which spans from Abuja to Kaduna, is a critical component of the broader infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing connectivity and economic activities in the northern corridor.

During a recent inspection tour, the Minister of Works, accompanied by senior officials from the Federal Ministry of Works and representatives of the construction firm handling the project, noted significant progress in the rehabilitation and expansion efforts. The Minister highlighted that the quality of work meets the stipulated standards and commended the contractors for adhering to the project timeline despite various challenges.

The Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Road project is divided into three sections:

Section I: Abuja to Kaduna

Section II: Kaduna to Zaria

Section III: Zaria to Kano

Section I, Phase 1 focuses on the dualization and reconstruction of the existing roadway to accommodate increasing traffic volumes and improve safety. The project includes the construction of additional lanes, installation of modern drainage systems, and the implementation of advanced road safety features.

The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to completing the entire Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Road project within the projected timeframe. He emphasized that the improved roadway would significantly reduce travel time, enhance trade and commerce, and contribute to the overall economic development of the region.

Local communities along the corridor have expressed optimism about the project’s completion, citing anticipated benefits such as increased business opportunities, improved access to markets, and enhanced security due to better road conditions.

The Federal Government continues to prioritize infrastructure development as a catalyst for economic growth, with the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Road serving as a flagship project in its broader transportation network enhancement strategy.
