The Federal Government has withdrawn the provisional allocation of 1,357 housing units across 33 states from beneficiaries who failed to complete their payments within the stipulated timeframe, the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development announced yesterday.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the ministry confirmed that the revocation follows the beneficiaries’ non-compliance with the mandatory 90-day payment deadline and an additional eight-week grace period that had been granted.
“This decision aligns with the terms and conditions outlined in Paragraph 2 of the Provisional Offer of Allocation Letter issued to beneficiaries,” the statement explained.
The affected properties, which include one and two-bedroom bungalows and three-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, are located across 33 states including Delta, Cross River, Edo, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Ebonyi, Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe, Bauchi, Borno, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Niger, Kwara, Kogi, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Kano.
Dr. Shuaib Muhammad Belgore, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, clarified that the revocation applies exclusively to recipients who failed to fulfill their payment obligations within the required period. He assured that beneficiaries who completed their payments by the February 28, 2025 deadline remain eligible to receive their Letters of Allocation and can take immediate possession of their homes.
“We understand the importance of homeownership to Nigerians, but we must also maintain the integrity of the National Housing Programme by ensuring compliance with established terms,” Belgore stated.
In a move toward greater transparency, the ministry has published the complete list of revoked allocations on its official website (https://fmhud.gov.ng), detailing the names of affected subscribers, house locations, and house types. Additionally, the list will be published in the Daily Trust, The Nation, and Leadership newspapers during the first week of April 2025.
Affected individuals have been advised to visit the ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja, or contact the Director of Public Buildings and Housing Development for further clarification or inquiries regarding their revoked allocations.
The statement emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring fair access to affordable housing while enforcing compliance with allocation terms to enhance the efficiency of the National Housing Programme.
Industry experts suggest this mass revocation may open opportunities for new applicants looking to access the government’s housing scheme, as these units are expected to be reallocated in the coming months.
