The Federal Government has officially released the 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) results for prospective students seeking admission into Junior Secondary School 1 (JSS1) across the nation’s 80 Federal Unity Colleges.
The announcement was made by the Federal Ministry of Education through the National Examinations Council (NECO), the body responsible for conducting the annual assessment. The examination, which remains a critical gateway into Nigeria’s top-performing secondary schools owned by the Federal Government, was held nationwide earlier in the year, attracting thousands of primary six pupils from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the ministry, the results have been meticulously vetted and released after thorough standardization and verification processes. This move signals the commencement of the next phase of the admission process into the prestigious Federal Unity Colleges, also known as Federal Government Colleges (FGCs), which are renowned for promoting national integration and offering quality education to students from diverse backgrounds.
In a statement made available , the Federal Government emphasized that the release of the results is part of its ongoing commitment to transparency, merit-based admissions, and equitable access to quality secondary education. Stakeholders including parents, guardians, and candidates have been advised to check the results through the official NECO portal or through the Federal Ministry of Education’s platforms using their unique examination details.
The 2025 edition of the NCEE saw impressive participation figures, with over 70,000 candidates sitting for the examination in various centers spread across the country. Education experts have noted that this year’s turnout reflects growing confidence in the Federal Unity School system, which continues to produce some of the brightest minds in the country.
Candidates who meet the required cut-off marks, determined by factors such as performance distribution and state-based educational considerations, will proceed to the interview stage, after which final placement into the schools will be made. These schools include some of Nigeria’s most sought-after institutions such as Federal Government College Lagos, Federal Government Girls College Owerri, and King’s College, among others.
Parents have also been encouraged to ensure that their wards participate fully in the remaining stages of the admission process, as the Federal Ministry of Education continues its drive to reform and strengthen the basic education sector in line with the goals of the national education policy.
As Nigeria pushes forward in enhancing access to quality education, the successful conduct and release of the 2025 NCEE results mark another step toward building a more inclusive and academically robust future for Nigerian children.
