The round of 32 of the President Federation Cup kicks off on Wednesday, with defending champions El-Kanemi Warriors set to face four-time winners Enyimba in a highly anticipated clash.
The all-NPFL affair will take place at the Bwari Mini Stadium in Abuja, with both teams looking to advance to the next round of Nigeria’s oldest competition.
Enyimba, who are struggling in the league, will be relying on the Federation Cup to secure a continental ticket. The two-time CAF Champions League winners are currently ninth in the league and face a tough task to finish in the top three.
Reigning NPFL champions Rangers International will also be in action, facing Heartland in Awka. Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side will be looking for another route into the continent next season, as they currently sit five points off the continental spot in the league.
Other fixtures in the round of 32 include Rivers United vs Beyond Limits in Benin City, Ikorodu City vs Crown FC in Ijebu Ode, Lobi Stars vs Solution FC, Kwara United vs Gombe United, and 2023 winners Bendel Insurance vs Adamawa United.
The President Federation Cup is Nigeria’s oldest and most prestigious domestic cup competition, with the winner earning a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup.
