Felix Agu’s Market Value Hits Career Peak After Super Eagles Debut

Felix Agu’s stock has risen sharply following his recent debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, with the Werder Bremen defender now valued at a career-high €8 million, according to the latest figures released by Transfermarkt. The 25-year-old full-back featured prominently during Nigeria’s Unity Cup triumph in London, a performance that appears to have solidified his standing in the global football market.

Agu played 83 minutes in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against Jamaica at the Brentford Community Stadium, a match that ended in a 5-4 penalty shootout victory for the Super Eagles. His composed performance on the left flank, coupled with his strong finish to the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, has been credited for the latest surge in his valuation.

The defender’s market value has been on a steady climb over the past year. In December 2023, Agu was valued at just €600,000. By May 27, 2024, his worth had risen to €2.5 million. Two days later, it doubled to €4 million, before increasing again to €6 million in December 2024. His current valuation of €8 million, confirmed in June 2025, marks the highest of his professional career.

Agu’s consistent performances for Werder Bremen in the recently concluded Bundesliga campaign played a crucial role in the rise. He made 22 league appearances and contributed three goals—an impressive return for a defender. His growing influence at the club has seen him become the fifth most valuable player at Werder Bremen, according to current squad valuations.

Globally, Agu is now ranked as the 1,280th most valuable player in the world and the 143rd in the German Bundesliga. Within the Nigerian football space, he sits at number 19 among the highest-valued Nigerian players worldwide. His market ranking by position is equally notable—he is currently listed as the 74th most valuable left-back in the world and 146th among players born in 1999.

A former Germany youth international, Agu had long been on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). His eligibility to switch allegiance was confirmed by FIFA, and shortly before the Unity Cup, the NFF finalised the paperwork clearing him to represent Nigeria at senior level.

Head coach Éric Chelle wasted no time in drafting Agu into the national team fold, and the defender made an instant impression. Speaking after the tournament via Werder Bremen’s official website, Agu expressed delight at the warm reception he received in the Super Eagles camp and said he is optimistic about contributing more to the team’s future assignments.

With his international future now firmly aligned with Nigeria and his club form gaining attention across Europe, Felix Agu’s trajectory continues to trend upwards—both in performance and market value.
