FG Appoints Olumode Adeyemi as New Controller-General of Fire Service

Abuja | July 30, 2025

The Federal Government has officially appointed Olumode Adeyemi as the new substantive Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), following the ratification of Adeyemi’s elevation to the top position in the fire agency.

According to the Board, Adeyemi’s appointment is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen critical national emergency response agencies through merit-based leadership reforms. His emergence follows years of service and proven commitment within the ranks of the Federal Fire Service.

Speaking on the appointment, the Secretary of the Board, Ja’afaru Ahmed, noted that Adeyemi’s leadership qualities, professional experience, and track record of discipline played key roles in his selection. He urged the new Controller-General to lead the Service with dedication, transparency, and a renewed sense of public responsibility.

Adeyemi is expected to spearhead reforms and modernisation initiatives within the Fire Service, including improved emergency response capabilities, fire prevention awareness campaigns, and enhanced staff welfare.

The appointment comes at a time when Nigeria is witnessing a rising frequency of fire incidents across residential, industrial, and public infrastructure sectors, raising the need for proactive leadership and technological innovation within the Service.

Adeyemi replaces the outgoing acting Controller-General and is expected to assume full duties with immediate effect.
