FG Delegation Arrives in Saudi Arabia Ahead of Dantata’s Burial

Madina, Saudi Arabia – June 30, 2025

A high-level delegation from the Federal Government of Nigeria has arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to participate in the funeral rites of the late business icon and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.

The delegation’s arrival comes ahead of the Janazah (funeral prayer), scheduled to hold in the Holy City of Madinah, at the Prophet’s Mosque, one of Islam’s holiest sites, in line with the wishes of the late philanthropist’s family and with the express permission of the Saudi authorities.

Sources close to the family confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been concluded, following the rare approval granted for Dantata’s burial in Madinah, an honour reserved for very few.

The delegation includes senior government officials, religious leaders, and dignitaries from Kano State and beyond, paying final respects to one of Nigeria’s most respected businessmen, whose legacy of philanthropy, humility, and national service spanned generations.

The Federal Government has described Dantata’s passing as a national loss, noting his immense contributions to commerce, education, and humanitarian development in Nigeria.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata passed away earlier this week at the age of 93. His burial in Madinah underscores the depth of his Islamic devotion and the esteem in which he was held both in Nigeria and internationally.
