The Federal Government has released the second tranche of the N35,000 wage award arrears to federal civil servants, fulfilling its pledge to ease the economic burden on workers amid current cost-of-living pressures.
The payment, overseen by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, covers outstanding wage awards promised under President Bola Tinubu’s administration as part of post-subsidy removal palliatives.
Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, confirmed the disbursement, stating that the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare and industrial harmony.
She urged beneficiaries to remain dedicated to service delivery, noting that discussions with organised labour on further wage adjustments and improved working conditions are ongoing.
The government has assured that the remaining arrears will be cleared in subsequent phases, in line with its financial obligations and budgetary provisions.
