Abuja, July 11, 2025 — The Federal Government has attributed the delay in processing June 2025 salaries for some federal civil servants to a technical network glitch at Zenith Bank, which affected automated payments into affected employees’ accounts.
In a statement released by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), spokesman Bawa Mokwa acknowledged growing concerns from staff in various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), particularly those whose accounts are held with Zenith Bank .
“Upon investigation, it was discovered that the salary payments … were affected due to a technical network glitch during the processing of salaries at the bank,” Mokwa stated. He reassured workers that the office is working closely with relevant service providers to reprocess failed transactions “without further delay,” and expressed regret over the inconvenience caused .
The OAGF emphasized that the welfare of federal employees remains its top priority, and has deployed concrete measures to resolve the issue. Additionally, efforts are underway to clear outstanding arrears of ₦35,000 under the wage award scheme .
Civil servants affected by the glitch were advised to remain calm while payments are reprocessed. The ministry has reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous engagement with stakeholders to ensure improvements in payroll management systems.
