FG Hosts Digital Media Summit to Spotlight New Media’s Role in National Growth

Abuja | July 31, 2025 — The Federal Government is set to host a landmark event tagged the Progressive Digital Media Summit, aimed at highlighting the transformative role of new media in driving Nigeria’s national development.

Themed “Unveiling the Critical Role of New Media in National Development”, the summit will hold from August 1st to 2nd, 2025, at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, under the coordination of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media.

The summit will convene leading voices in government, tech, media, and civil society to explore how digital platforms, citizen journalism, and social media innovation can foster transparency, boost civic engagement, and support economic development.

This gathering is expected to provide a strategic platform for stakeholders to assess the current digital media ecosystem and formulate policies that balance innovation with national interests. Participants will also deliberate on issues like misinformation, digital literacy, data protection, and regulatory challenges in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving media space.

According to organisers, the summit underscores President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s recognition of the digital space as a potent driver of modern governance, youth empowerment, and inclusive development.

With new media now central to public discourse and policy influence, the summit aims to equip key actors with the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to harness its full potential for nation-building.
