Abuja — September 1, 2025
The Federal Government has dismissed claims of lopsidedness in the allocation of projects and appointments under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that his administration has been guided by equity, justice, and fairness in governance.
In a statement addressing what it described as “insinuations, half-truths, and fake narratives,” the government stressed that all six geopolitical zones have benefitted from federal projects, initiatives, and appointments since the President assumed office.
According to the data released, capital projects have been distributed equitably across regions. The Northwest tops the list with ₦5.97 trillion, representing over 40 percent of approvals, followed by the South-South with ₦2.41 trillion, while the North Central received ₦1.13 trillion. Others include the Southwest (₦604 billion, excluding Lagos), Southeast (₦407 billion), and the Northeast (₦400 billion).
Highlighting ongoing legacy projects, the government noted that the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway, and Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road, among others, reflect a fair spread between northern and southern states. Rail projects such as the Kano–Kaduna and Port Harcourt–Maiduguri corridors, as well as the Lagos and Ogun metroline systems, are also part of the administration’s infrastructural drive.
Beyond transportation, the Federal Government pointed to the rehabilitation of over 1,000 primary health centres, the revival of the 255MW Kaduna Power Plant, the AKK Gas Pipeline, and the accelerated oil exploration in Bauchi and Gombe States as proof of balanced development.
The statement further noted that equity is evident in political appointments, with President Tinubu appointing capable Nigerians from every region, guided by competence and inclusivity.
The government added that the creation of five new Regional Development Commissions and the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development underscore the President’s determination to address Nigeria’s unique developmental challenges without sectional bias.
It assured Nigerians that Tinubu remains committed to national unity and growth under the Renewed Hope Agenda, promising that “no part of the country will be left behind.”
