Abuja, Nigeria – August 9, 2025
The Federal Government has unveiled a ₦100 billion solar energy initiative aimed at providing reliable electricity to schools, hospitals, and other critical public facilities across the country.
Speaking during the launch in Abuja, Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, said the project is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to promote sustainable energy solutions and bridge the electricity gap in underserved communities.
According to the minister, the initiative will be implemented in collaboration with private sector investors and development partners, focusing on the installation of solar mini-grids and rooftop systems to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
He noted that the programme will improve healthcare delivery, enhance learning environments, and strengthen public service delivery, particularly in rural areas.
The Federal Government assured that the project will also create thousands of jobs, promote renewable energy adoption, and reduce dependence on fossil fuels, thereby contributing to Nigeria’s climate action commitments.
