FG Launches LUMINAH 2030 to Empower Over One Million Girls and Women

Abuja, Nigeria – June 17, 2025
The Federal Ministry of Education has officially launched LUMINAH 2030, a transformative national initiative aimed at empowering over one million underserved girls and women across Nigeria by the year 2030.

The ambitious programme, unveiled in Abuja by the Honourable Minister of Education, is designed to address gender gaps in education and economic opportunities by equipping girls and women with quality education, vocational skills, digital literacy, and leadership training.

According to the Ministry, LUMINAH 2030 will directly impact girls in rural and conflict-prone areas, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and other vulnerable groups, helping to lift them out of poverty and marginalisation through structured learning and empowerment frameworks.

“We are intentional about reaching the unreached. Through LUMINAH 2030, we are creating a pathway for Nigerian girls and women to thrive and lead,” the Minister stated.

The project aligns with the Federal Government’s broader agenda on inclusive education, youth empowerment, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 5 (Gender Equality).

LUMINAH 2030 is expected to be rolled out in phases, in collaboration with development partners, civil society organizations, and state governments.
