The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening partnerships with traditional institutions across the country as part of its broader strategy to foster economic development and social cohesion. This pledge was made by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, during a courtesy visit to the Lamido of Adamawa, His Royal Highness Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, who also serves as the Chairman of the Adamawa State Council of Traditional Rulers.

The Minister, represented by Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, emphasized the critical role that traditional institutions play in driving economic progress and fostering unity within local communities.
In his address, the Minister highlighted the government’s determination to stabilize the national economy, improve the standard of living for citizens, and align these efforts with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He outlined key initiatives designed to reposition the country’s economic structure, including extensive infrastructure investment, the creation of a more conducive environment for domestic and foreign investments, and the implementation of fiscal reforms aimed at boosting government revenue and promoting sustainable growth.
Additionally, Mr. Edun spoke about ongoing efforts to support the agricultural sector, which remains a vital part of Nigeria’s economy, alongside investments in education, healthcare, and skills development as key pillars of the government’s economic revitalization agenda. He expressed optimism that these initiatives would ultimately improve the lives of Nigerians and bring about significant positive changes in various sectors of the economy.
The Minister also took the opportunity to express gratitude to the Adamawa State Government and the people of the state for hosting the retreat, recognizing their role in supporting national development efforts. “We are grateful to the people of Adamawa for their hospitality and for playing an essential part in this important event,” Mr. Edun said.
