Fidelity Bank Renovates Classrooms at Historic Bauchi School, Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Education

In a renewed show of commitment to educational development and community upliftment, Fidelity Bank Plc has completed the renovation of three blocks comprising seven classrooms at the historic Kobi Government Primary School in Bauchi State. The intervention, which forms part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility drive, was officially commissioned during a brief but significant ceremony attended by key stakeholders in the state’s education sector.

The project was delivered under the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP), an internal CSR initiative driven by voluntary staff contributions. In this case, employees of the bank’s GRA Branch in Bauchi contributed personal funds toward the project, which were then matched by the bank’s management to ensure the successful execution of the renovation.

Speaking on behalf of the Regional Head, North-East, Dr. Musa Tarimbuka, the Relationship Manager of the Bauchi GRA Branch, Ibrahim Aliyu, described the project as a practical expression of the bank’s belief in inclusive development. According to him, Fidelity Bank views the success of its business as being deeply interconnected with the progress of the communities it serves.

“This effort demonstrates how collective goodwill can lead to transformative impact. At Fidelity Bank, we are committed to not just banking, but building. Through initiatives like this, we continue to promote access to quality education and create opportunities for youth empowerment,” Aliyu stated during the commissioning.

The renovated school facility was received on behalf of the Bauchi State Government by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawal Mohammed, who commended the bank for its proactive contribution to the education sector. He assured that the classrooms would be well-maintained and put to maximum use in line with the government’s ongoing reforms to strengthen the state’s basic education infrastructure.

“This gesture by Fidelity Bank is not only commendable, but also exemplary. We encourage other corporate institutions operating in Bauchi to emulate this intervention, as education remains a shared responsibility. Government alone cannot do it all,” the commissioner remarked.

Also present at the event were the Permanent Commissioner of the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Ishiaku Azare, and the Team Lead, Corporate Social Responsibility at Fidelity Bank Plc, Victoria Abuka, who reiterated the bank’s long-standing commitment to supporting developmental goals across Nigeria.

The renovation of the Kobi Government School adds to a growing list of impactful CSR projects implemented by Fidelity Bank across the country. Notably, the bank had earlier disbursed N512.8 million in educational support to 884 customers under its Fidelity Personal Savings Scheme and an additional 472 beneficiaries under the Fidelity SWEETA initiative.

A leading commercial bank in Nigeria, Fidelity Bank Plc serves over 9.1 million customers via its 255 business offices nationwide and a fully licensed subsidiary in the United Kingdom, FidBank UK Limited. The bank has received multiple awards for its innovation and excellence, including the 2024 Excellence in Digital Transformation and MSME Banking Award from BusinessDay BAFI Awards, the 2024 Most Innovative Mobile Banking App by Global Business Outlook, and the 2024 Most Innovative Investment Banking Service Provider by Global Brands Magazine.
