The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced the rollout of its new electronic invoicing (e-Invoicing) platform, with more than 1,000 companies already integrating into the system.
The initiative, unveiled on Monday, is part of the agency’s ongoing tax administration reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, curbing revenue leakages, and improving compliance with the nation’s tax laws. The e-Invoicing platform will enable businesses to issue, transmit, and authenticate invoices electronically, ensuring real-time tracking of transactions and reducing incidences of tax evasion.
Speaking at the launch, FIRS Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, said the platform would revolutionize tax processes, strengthen Nigeria’s revenue base, and align the country with global best practices in digital tax management. He urged companies to complete their integration promptly to avoid penalties and ensure seamless operations.
The agency noted that the deployment would be phased, with continuous onboarding of eligible businesses, and assured stakeholders of technical support throughout the transition period.
