First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu Urges Nigerians to Tackle Plastic Pollution on World Environment Day

On this year’s World Environment Day themed “Ending Plastic Pollution,” Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has joined millions worldwide in calling for urgent and collective action to protect the environment.

In her message, the First Lady highlighted plastic pollution as one of the most critical environmental challenges of our era, with significant impacts on public health, ecosystems, and future generations.

“We must rise to this challenge by rethinking how we consume packaged food items and manage the disposal of plastic containers and bags,” she stated.

Addressing Nigeria’s youth, who she described as “leaders of tomorrow,” Senator Tinubu encouraged active participation in environmental conservation efforts both in schools and local communities to foster a cleaner, healthier, and greener nation.

Her call to action underscores the importance of community engagement and sustainable practices in combating plastic waste pollution.
