Former Senator Shehu Sani Announces Bid for Kaduna Central Seat in 2027

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has formally declared his intention to contest for the senatorial seat he previously held in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The announcement came during Sani’s Eid-el-Fitr message delivered at his residence in Kaduna on Sunday, where he outlined his political ambitions while emphasizing certain conditions that would influence his final decision.
“Any politician contesting an election depends on the political equation that determines the position to vie for. If the conditions are right and the equations are favorable, I will offer myself to contest specifically for the Kaduna Central senatorial district,” Sani stated.
However, the former senator clarified that his personal political ambitions remain secondary to ensuring the re-election of incumbent Governor Uba Sani for a second term in office.
“For now, our priority is to see that the incumbent governor, Uba Sani, is re-elected. We will work with all our might and strength to achieve this. We know there will be challenges and opposition, but we are well prepared for all forces,” he added.
Beyond political declarations, Sani used the occasion to call on Muslims across the country to pray for Nigeria’s peace and unity during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. He also addressed recent security concerns, specifically condemning the killing of hunters in Edo State and urging security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“If citizens cannot move freely across the country, then we are not truly a nation. If individuals take the law into their hands for any reason, it means there is no government or authority,” he remarked.
The former lawmaker urged Nigerians committed to national progress to work towards peace and unity despite current challenges, emphasizing the importance of preserving democracy. He further called on the government to prioritize the protection of fundamental human rights, particularly the right to life, as essential for achieving national stability and development.
Shehu Sani previously represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District from 2015 to 2019 and has remained active in national discourse on governance and human rights issues.
