FOU Zone D Records Over N110 Million Worth of Seizures in One Month — Comptroller Umar

The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone D of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced the seizure of contraband goods valued at more than N110.5 million within a one-month period from April 20 to May 20, 2025.

Comptroller Abubakar Umar, head of FOU Zone D, revealed that the intercepted items include 11,200 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 192 bales and 2 sacks of second-hand clothing, 140 cartons of foreign spaghetti, 125 pairs of desert and jungle boots, 47 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice, and 9.4 kilograms of pangolin scales.

The total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the seized goods stands at N110,499,352. While the seized PMS is set to be auctioned with proceeds remitted to the Federation Account, the pangolin scales will be handed over to the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) for further action.

Comptroller Umar credited the success to enhanced intelligence gathering, increased patrol efforts, and strengthened collaboration with other agencies. He urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to aid the fight against smuggling.

FOU Zone D operates across nine states including Adamawa, Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Yobe, Plateau, Benue, and Nasarawa, maintaining its commitment to securing Nigeria’s borders and supporting economic stability.
