Fountain University’s Accounting Programme Earns ICAN Full Re-Accreditation Until 2028

Fountain University, Osogbo, has once again affirmed its place among top institutions offering quality accounting education in Nigeria as its Bachelor of Science in Accounting programme has secured full re-accreditation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). The new accreditation status is valid until the year 2028.

The prestigious professional body, ICAN, formally communicated this endorsement in an official letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Olayinka Ramota Karim. The correspondence, which was signed by the Registrar and Chief Executive of ICAN, Dr. Lanre Olasunkanmi, FCA, applauded the university’s unwavering commitment to maintaining academic excellence and upholding professional standards in accounting education.

Reacting to the development, Prof. Karim expressed the institution’s delight at the recognition. According to her, “We are elated by ICAN’s decision to grant full re-accreditation to our Accounting programme. This milestone is a testament to the consistent quality of teaching, research, and professional development embedded in our curriculum. It reflects the hard work of our faculty and the strategic vision of the university towards producing competent accounting graduates who can compete globally.”

She further used the opportunity to appeal to candidates who recently sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), organized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), to give serious consideration to Fountain University as their preferred institution. Prof. Karim emphasized that the Accounting programme is not only ICAN-accredited but also designed to prepare students for real-world challenges through a curriculum that blends academic knowledge with practical application.

Fountain University’s Accounting department has over the years built a reputation for excellence, driven by a robust academic framework, qualified lecturers, and a focus on professional development. With this ICAN re-accreditation, the university joins a select group of institutions in Nigeria whose accounting programmes meet the rigorous standards set by the nation’s foremost accounting body.

The university reiterated its commitment to strengthening ties with ICAN and other professional bodies to ensure that its graduates are well-equipped for the dynamic demands of the accounting profession both within and outside Nigeria.
