At Polling Unit 012 located at Lagoon View Estate, Ibeshe Road, Ikorodu, ad-hoc election officers were observed preparing to commence accreditation and voting for the local government elections. As of the early hours of the morning, the officials were busy setting up necessary equipment and materials to ensure smooth operations throughout the day.
The scene was calm, with voters beginning to arrive in anticipation of the election process. The polling unit, one of several in Ikorodu, was organized with clear demarcations to guide the electorate on where to line up for accreditation.
“I’ve been here since 7:00 am, and I can see that the officials are doing everything to ensure the process goes smoothly,” said Mr. Babajide Adedeji, a voter at the unit. “We are ready to exercise our rights and make sure our votes count today.”
Election observers were also seen at the unit, monitoring the activities to ensure adherence to electoral guidelines and transparency. The officials were expected to begin the accreditation process as scheduled, allowing voters to cast their ballots for local government chairmen and councillors.
The presence of security personnel around the unit further ensured that the voting environment remained peaceful and orderly.
As voting began in various parts of Ikorodu, election officials were optimistic that the day would proceed without significant hitches, despite the earlier reports of slight delays in some locations across the state.
